Our Mission

"The Kula Ohana PTSA is an organization of parents and teachers who are interested in and dedicated to the enrichment of the educational experience at Kula Elementary, Intermediate and High.  Our efforts are driven by the desire and commitment to invest in our children's future.  We care, we contribute, we raise money, we organize and participate in events, we share ideas, we celebrate and support the achievements of Kula students, faculty and administration, we make positive decisions based on the highest good for our school community and we welcome ALL parents to be involved."

The Parent Teacher Student Association at Kula, known as the Kula Ohana PTSA, plays an important part in supporting the school, its students, teachers, administration and parent community.  The Kula Ohana PTSA creates an open forum for parents/guardians, teachers, administrators and students to exchange thoughts, implement activities and develop systems for the enrichment of our unique school community.  It is an effective vehicle for productive communication regarding any Kula subject and all parents are encouraged to join and attend the monthly meetings scheduled for the first Thursday of each month at 4:30pm at the High School campus.

The Kula Ohana PTSA fundraising efforts support teacher professional development, Student Council directed activities, grade level field trips, classroom enhancements, community-building social events and KIF sporting events. The effectiveness of the Kula Ohana PTSA relies upon membership commitment from ALL Kula families and the willingness on the part of parents, teachers and students to be involved.  Membership is $15 for the first family member and $10 for each additional family member.  Checks may be made out to Kula Ohana PTSA and left in the administration office.  Membership cards will be mailed to participants.

The Importance of Being an Involved Parent

Pau Hana Concert at Kula
Being actively involved in your child’s life has many rewards—memories, great conversations, a deeper relationship with your child, and the chance to watch your child grow into a healthy and responsible adult.  Dr. Phillippe Cunningham, research scientist at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Medical University of South Carolina, explains, “Kids who are close to their parents are less likely to engage in a whole host of risky behaviors and more likely to become successful adults.  One of the ways you can stay actively involved in your child's life is to be involved in the PTSA.  Find out what is happening at your child's school, talk with other parents and your child's teachers and attend school events and activities.  Your kids will appreciate your interest  and involvement in their education!
"Challenge yourself to invest in our children's future by being involved and supportive here and now!  There is no rewind."
